The Maldives’ Non-Resident Ambassador to Nepal, Aishath Azeema, has formally presented her credentials to Nepalese President Ram Chandra Poudel during an official ceremony held in Kathmandu.
The presentation of credentials marks the commencement of Ambassador Azeema’s diplomatic duties in Nepal, with both sides reaffirming the importance of continued engagement between the two countries. The meeting underscored longstanding ties between the Maldives and Nepal, with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
Ambassador Azeema conveyed greetings on behalf of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and the Maldivian Government, while also acknowledging Nepal’s contributions to Maldives’ socio-economic development, particularly in the health sector. She expressed her intention to work closely with Nepalese authorities to further develop bilateral relations during her tenure.
During her visit, the Ambassador is scheduled to hold meetings with senior Nepalese officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Health and Population and the Foreign Secretary, as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements.
Ambassador Azeema, who is based in New Delhi in her capacity as the Maldives’ High Commissioner to India, was appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Nepal in June 2025. She was accompanied by a senior official from the Maldives High Commission in India during the visit.
