President implementing reforms based on public needs: MP Latheef

Member of Parliament for Dhidhdhoo constituency Abdul Latheef Mohamed has said President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is working to implement reforms aligned with the needs of the public, noting that the Administration continues to pursue changes aimed at strengthening governance.

Speaking on MMTV’s Bodu Khabaru programme, MP Latheef said the President assumed office with a commitment to introduce necessary reforms, including amendments to laws and policies where required, based on his experience and vision for governance.

He said the Administration has also prioritised safeguarding national independence, adding that efforts are underway to ensure the Maldives remains free from external influence. MP Latheef further noted that key decisions are being guided by public opinion, referring to the President’s stance that major reforms would be implemented based on the will of the people.

The MP added that the Government is continuing efforts to address national concerns, including strengthening legal and institutional frameworks to manage issues such as expatriate-related challenges, as part of measures to respond to public needs.
