Former Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen has been honoured in recognition of his 32 years of service to the Maldives Police Service.
Naveen retired on 18 February, concluding more than three decades in law enforcement, including his tenure as Commissioner of Police.
A special ceremony was held on Wednesday to acknowledge his contribution to the institution. The event was officiated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan.
During the ceremony, Naveen was presented with a commemorative plaque of honour and a retirement card. The plaque, awarded to Commissioners who retire with honour, displays the colours and medals conferred during service, along with insignia featured on the Commissioner of Police uniform and a police identity card.
The retirement card, issued to officers who conclude their service honourably, serves as official identification and may be used when entering Police Service facilities.
Naveen was appointed as Commissioner of Police on 10 June 2025 following the resignation of Ali Shujau on 25 April 2025. Prior to his formal appointment, he led the Police Service in an acting capacity.
With his retirement, Naveen concludes a career that placed him among the most senior officers to have headed the Maldives Police Service.
