The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), in collaboration with Yanmar Asia, hosted the "Odiveriya Forum" on Tuesday at Dharubaaruge, Dhoshimeyna Maalan.

The event focused on exploring innovative solutions to enhance the fishing industry in the Maldives.

The forum brought together fishermen and industry stakeholders to discuss challenges faced by the fishing community and share practical strategies to address them.

A key segment of the event featured Yanmar providing detailed information on the usage and benefits of the RSW (Refrigerated Sea Water) refrigeration system for fishing vessels.

Yanmar's representatives explained how the system addresses the persistent issue of inadequate cooling facilities, which often compromise the quality of fishermen's catch.

The RSW system offers an effective solution for maintaining the freshness of fish during and after the catch, enabling fishermen to maximise their income by preserving the quality of their haul. Additionally, it supports sustainability by reducing post-harvest losses and safeguarding the value of fishermen's hard work.
