Ibrahim Falah, the Parliamentary Group Leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC) and MP for Inguraidhoo, has commended President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s leadership, describing him as a decisive statesman who prioritises national interest over political gain.

Speaking at the inauguration of the PNC’s South Hulhumalé campaign office, Falah highlighted the President’s commitment to implementing necessary, albeit difficult, policies for the protection of citizens' rights.

MP Falah drew comparisons between the current Administration and the governance style of former president Ibrahim Nasir, noting that President Dr Muizzu remains focused on statecraft and long-term policy implementation.

Referring to the legislative work of the 20th People’s Majlis, Falah said the parliament has introduced nearly fifty amendments to existing laws and passed several new pieces of legislation during its current term.

Addressing the proposal to hold presidential and parliamentary elections concurrently, Falah dismissed criticisms from the opposition, stating they have failed to provide a substantive rationale against the move. He maintained that the PNC supports the change due to the direct benefits it offers the public and urged citizens to vote "Yes" in the related referendum scheduled for April 4.

Falah also emphasised the vital role of local councils in the nation’s future development, calling on voters to consider the long-term implications of their decisions in the upcoming polls.
