Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has awarded the development of a modern yacht marina in Haa Alifu Uligan to SASe Construction Private Limited.

MPL stated that the agreement for the project has been signed and work will begin with the development of the first phase of the marina.

Under the initial phase, the marina will be designed to accommodate up to 18 yachts at a time. In addition to essential docking and maritime services, the facility will also include immigration and customs services to facilitate clearance for visiting international vessels.

MPL further noted that efforts are underway to identify a party to operate the marina and oversee its future expansion.

Uligan is considered one of the most popular destinations in the Maldives for visiting yachts.

In addition to the development of the yacht marina, an immigration office is also being constructed on the island to facilitate immigration clearance for passengers and crew arriving on foreign vessels, particularly in connection with the international bunkering services being developed in the Ihavandhippolhu region.
