Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been contracted to undertake road development projects in Haa Alifu Baarah and Muraidhoo, with agreements signed to upgrade key roads on both islands.

The agreement was signed by State Minister for Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Hassan Rasheed on behalf of the Government, while RDC Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem signed on behalf of the corporation, with the projects aimed at improving transport infrastructure in the two islands.

Under the project in Baarah, the main road around the island will be developed as a ring road, with the works scheduled for completion within three years and five months, supporting mobility across the island which has a population of over 1,000 residents.

In Muraidhoo, the project will involve upgrading roads across the island to asphalt and modern standards, with completion expected within two years and 10 days, benefiting a population of around 500 people.

The projects form part of broader efforts to enhance road infrastructure in the atolls, improving connectivity and living conditions in island communities.
