Students pursuing higher education in the Maldives under the High Achievers Scholarship will receive an additional allowance of MVR 6,000 on top of their existing stipend, following changes introduced by theMinistry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development,  to encourage high-achieving students to study locally.

The revised policy, published by the ministry, also outlines updates to the High Achievers Scholarship and Special Scholarship awarded to top-performing A-Level students, with State Minister for Higher Education Dr Abdul Raheem Hassan stating that the additional allowance is intended to retain top-performing students within the country.

According to the updated guidelines, the High Achievers Scholarship will be awarded to students who achieve at least one A* in one of five subjects, including Dhivehi or Islamic Studies, and at least an A in the remaining subjects, with candidates also required to obtain a minimum C pass in English, while replacing the previous criteria which required A grades in all five subjects.
