Laboratory services have been introduced at Raa Vaadhoo Health Centre, with the facility officially inaugurated by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Health, members of the Vaadhoo Island Council and officials of the health centre, following which the minister met with the centre’s management team to discuss operational challenges and explore solutions to improve service delivery.

The introduction of laboratory services is expected to ease the burden on residents, who previously had to travel to other islands or Malé for diagnostic testing, with services such as routine tests and blood-related diagnostics now available on the island.

The Government has been working to expand access to healthcare services across the atolls, with the establishment of laboratory facilities in all inhabited islands identified as a key priority, and Vaadhoo becoming one of 17 islands where such services have been introduced under the current Administration.
