The Maldives Police Service has arranged special ferry services for individuals travelling to Dhoonidhoo Jail to cast their votes.

The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) had earlier announced that voting arrangements would be facilitated for individuals who have completed their sentences and registered to vote while in custody.

According to the Maldives Police Service, three ferry trips have been scheduled for the day, departing at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:45 p.m. from Jetty Number 3.

The Elections Commission has also established five ballot boxes in correctional facilities following the re-registration process. These include two ballot boxes at Maafushi Jail, and one each at Asseyri Jail in Hinmafushi, Hulhumalé Jail, and Dhoonidhoo Jail.

Today’s voting covers three key processes: the Local Council elections, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, and a public referendum seeking views on amending the Constitution to allow presidential and parliamentary elections to be held on the same day.
