The Omadhoo Island Council has urged the Government to address the deteriorating state of the island's harbour and several other issues following a meeting with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the Omadhoo Island Council Office today.

During the meeting, representatives from the Omadhoo Island Council, the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and heads of various local institutions presented their concerns and hopes for the island’s future.

The most urgent issue raised was the state of the island's harbour, which has been a significant challenge for the local community.

Other concerns included the need for improvements to the island’s Health Centre. Land shortages were also highlighted, along with the demand for better school facilities to accommodate students.

The local representatives expressed a strong willingness to collaborate with the Government to resolve these issues.

In response to the concerns, President Dr Muizzu acknowledged the urgency of these matters and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to addressing them. He has committed to improve the island's educational infrastructure and has confirmed that the harbour project would be prioritised. Additionally, measures will be implemented to address coastal erosion.

Cabinet Ministers who accompanied the President also provided updates on ongoing development projects aimed at enhancing the island's infrastructure and public services.
