Abdul Haseeb appointed as Elections Commission Member

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially appointed Abdul Haseeb Ismail as a member of the Elections Commission of the Maldives.
The decision was made pursuant to Article 167(a) of the Maldives Constitution, which outlines the formation of the Elections Commission, and Article 168(b), alongside Article 4(a) of Law No. 8/2008, also known as the Elections Commission Act. The formal letter of appointment was presented to Abdul Haseeb Ismail by the President during a ceremony held today at the President’s Office.
Before receiving the appointment letter, Abdul Haseeb Ismail undertook the oath of office in the presence of President Dr Muizzu. The oath was administered by Honourable Dr Azmiralda Zahir, Justice of the Supreme Court of the Maldives, as part of the official proceedings.
Abdul Haseeb Ismail previously served as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs under the former administration and had earlier held the position of Assistant Director at the Elections Commission.
