Third batch of National Service Programme departs for training ---
The first group of participants selected for the third batch of the National Service Programme has departed for Maafilaafushi to begin initial training, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced.
In a post shared on X, the President said 352 participants from the 1,785 Maldivian youths who applied under the programme's second application window had departed for the training programme. The training will be conducted over three months at the MNDF Composite Training Centre in Lhaviyani Maafilaafushi.
The President said that participants will receive training in a range of areas including patriotism, religious upbringing, moral values, leadership and physical well-being. He said the programme forms part of the Government's efforts to develop a generation of self-reliant, patriotic and responsible young people who are strong in faith and physically and mentally prepared to contribute to the nation.
A total of 352 youths, including 64 females and 288 males from 115 islands across 20 atolls, are taking part in the third batch of training. President Dr Muizzu wished all participants success and perseverance as they begin the programme.
The National Service Programme is a flagship Government initiative aimed at empowering young people through structured training, education and civic engagement. Since its launch, hundreds of youths have completed the programme, with participants receiving training and certifications designed to strengthen leadership skills, community service and personal development.
