President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated that one of the Government's key policy objectives is to nurture a generation that is loyal to faith and nation, grounded in the principles of true Islam and noble Maldivian values.

The President made the remarks in his message marking the Islamic New Year, extending greetings and well wishes to the Maldivian people and the wider Muslim Ummah.

Reflecting on the significance of the Hijra, the President said the migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions from Makkah to Madinah more than 1,400 years ago demonstrates that perseverance and steadfastness in the path of Allah lead to success despite immense challenges.

He stated that the most important lesson to be drawn from the Hijri New Year 1448 AH is the need to place national interest above partisan and social divisions.

The President emphasised that the progress and stability of the Maldives depend on unity and brotherhood among its people. He noted that the spirit of friendship, compassion and mutual assistance shown by the Ansar and Muhajireen in Madinah should be revived within Maldivian society today. He added that a nation can only be built through sincerity and by working together towards a shared vision.

President Dr Muizzu also called on citizens to commit to self-improvement and community reform by turning away from negative practices and embracing the path of righteousness.

Describing Islamic unity among Maldivians as the nation's greatest strength, the President reaffirmed the Government's commitment to safeguarding Islamic principles, protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, and ensuring justice and equality for all citizens.

He further stated that the new Hijri year presents an opportunity to rebuild the economy and strengthen the social fabric of the nation. The President added that today's global challenges can only be overcome through innovation, diligence and hard work.

As the Maldives welcomes the Hijri New Year, the President also urged continued prayers for Muslims suffering in different parts of the world, particularly in Palestine.

Concluding his message, President Dr Muizzu prayed for the Hijri New Year to bring peace, blessings and prosperity to the Maldives and the wider Islamic Ummah, while strengthening the bonds of unity among all people.
