The Maldives Police Service has requested to remove vehicles parked between the Carnival area and Henveiru Ferry Terminal ahead of asphalt works scheduled to begin on Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

In a statement, police said the section of the road designated for paving will be closed from 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, and parking in the area will no longer be permitted from that time. Police warned that any vehicles remaining in the area after the deadline will be towed.

The road works, which are being carried out by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), are scheduled to begin on Wednesday as part of the ongoing redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

MTCC stated that the project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase covers the stretch between Henveiru Ferry Terminal and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the remaining section will be completed after the initial phase is finished.

Although the road section from Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the entrance of the Carnival parking area will be temporarily closed, access to the parking zone will remain available. Police apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary traffic changes and urged the public to cooperate with the arrangements.

MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee previously stated that the redevelopment project is expected to be completed and opened to the public by July. Once completed, the upgraded road is expected to improve traffic flow and enhance transportation services in the area.
