The Business Center Corporation (BCC) and SME Digital, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, have announced a series of nationwide activities to mark Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day.
Details of the events were shared with the media by BCC on Thursday ahead of MSME Day, which is observed annually on June 27. BCC said the activities are aimed at promoting businesses across the Maldives, supporting entrepreneurs and encouraging the growth of small and medium enterprises.
As part of the celebrations, BCC will conduct special entrepreneur-focused sessions under the “MSME Beyond” initiative through business centres in various islands. The sessions will provide guidance on starting and managing businesses while also featuring success stories from local entrepreneurs.
SME Digital has also planned a public event in Kaafu Huraa on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The programme, organised in partnership with Huraa Council and BCC, will provide information on financing opportunities and support services available to businesses.
BCC has additionally launched a new initiative titled “MSME Pitch Up”, under which eight selected teams will receive mentorship from industry experts and BCC officials. The programme is designed to help participants refine business ideas, develop products and prepare business plans for commercial success.
The celebrations will conclude with the MSME Fest at Hulhumalé Central Park on June 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The event will feature 30 stalls operated by small and medium enterprises, alongside entertainment programmes, children's activities and food outlets.
A special broadcast titled “MSME Day Live” will also air throughout the day, highlighting business opportunities, entrepreneurial success stories and government initiatives aimed at supporting the sector.
