The Government has launched the Maldives Digital Health Blueprint 2026–2030, setting out a national strategy to modernise the country's healthcare system through digital technology.
The blueprint outlines a national vision for the digital transformation of healthcare and identifies a series of priority initiatives to be implemented over the next 12 to 18 months. These include strengthening digital health systems, improving interoperability between healthcare platforms, enhancing the digital capabilities of the health workforce and prioritising investments needed to support the sector's digital transformation.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Geela Ali said digital transformation is essential to improving healthcare delivery and ensuring people have easier access to health services.
The blueprint also sets out the governance framework, standards, digital capacity-building measures and investment priorities required to establish a secure, integrated and patient-centred digital health system.
Developed with technical and financial support from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Japan, the blueprint forms part of the Government's "Maldives 2.0: Digital First Nation" policy.
