Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been awarded the contract to establish an MNDF Fire and Rescue Service station in Gaafu Alifu Villingili, under the Government's programme to expand fire and rescue services across the Maldives. The agreement was signed by State Minister for Defence Muaz Haleem on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and National Security, while RDC Deputy Managing Director Hassan Rifai Bushry signed on behalf of the company.

The State-funded project has been awarded with a completion period of 550 days. MNDF stated that the new fire station will enable faster emergency response and strengthen fire and rescue services in Villingili and nearby islands, in line with the Government's policy of expanding fire and rescue services to all atolls.
