The second phase of the Cyber Security and Resilience Fellowship has commenced in the Maldives, with Australian cyber security experts conducting training for officials from various Government institutions.
Jointly organised by the President's Office and Australia's Edith Cowan University (ECU) under the Australia Awards Fellowships Programme 2026, the initiative seeks to strengthen cyber security cooperation between the Maldives and Australia while enhancing the country's digital resilience.
A team of researchers from Edith Cowan University is leading the programme, which is being held in Malé from 28 June to 2 July. The sessions focus on cyber incident response, risk management and practical simulation exercises designed to improve national cyber security preparedness.
The fellowship is attended by 15 representatives from various Government institutions who previously completed the first phase of the programme in Australia. The Malé sessions are intended to build on the knowledge and practical skills acquired during that earlier training.
The first phase of the fellowship was held in Australia from 19 January to 3 February 2026 as part of the joint initiative between the President's Office and Edith Cowan University.
