Former Attorney General Uza Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed has been proposed for appointment as the Maldives' Ambassador to the European Union (EU) and Belgium.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has submitted Dhiyana's name to the People's Majlis for parliamentary approval. The proposal was presented during Tuesday's sitting and has been referred to the Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee for consideration.

Dhiyana previously served as Attorney General during the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed. She later served as Gender, Family and Human Rights under former President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.

She was appointed Ambassador-at-Large under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in April 2026.
