NDMA provides MVR 95,000 in assistance following Funfalhuge fire

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has provided MVR 95,000 worth of humanitarian assistance to people affected by the fire incident at Galolhu Funfalhuge.
The agency said a total of 109 people were affected by the incident, including residents who required temporary accommodation and food support following the fire.
NDMA provided shelter and meals for 93 residents from 22 apartments located on the fourth floor of the building. Assistance was also provided to 16 residents from three apartments on the fifth floor, with temporary shelter and food arranged for five days.
Following the incident, 25 people received treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), while three others were treated at ADK Hospital.
NDMA has begun assessing the extent of damage caused by the fire to determine further assistance required.
The fire was reported to the Maldives Police Service at 22:49 on Sunday, and police are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
