The Maldives Police Service has received 150 drug and precursor field test kits from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to strengthen efforts to detect and combat drug-related offences.
The equipment was handed over to Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed by Head of the UNODC Office in the Maldives Enrico Boninsegna and Regional Security Officer of the U.S. Embassy in the Maldives Mihyar Alnifaidy.
The kits were provided through UNODC with funding support from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
Police said the new equipment will enhance the capacity of law enforcement officers in identifying and responding to drug-related crimes.
The Maldives Police Service expressed appreciation to UNODC for its continued support and partnership in strengthening law enforcement capabilities and promoting safer communities.
