In total, MIFCO paid MVR 1.23 million for fish purchased from 30 vessels on 8 July and MVR 1.14 million for fish purchased from 32 vessels on 9 July.

MIFCO has been paying fishers within 48 hours of weighing their catch since 10 December 2024, fulfilling a pledge by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The company also began purchasing large yellowfin tuna this year and has extended the 48-hour payment system to fishers supplying the species.
