President sends condolences to Qatar after former Amir's passing

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed condolences to Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the death of former Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The President said the former Amir played an important role in strengthening ties between the Maldives and Qatar, highlighting his contribution to the launch of Qatar Airways operations in the Maldives and the establishment of Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani School and Masjid Al Sheikh Qasim Bin Al Thani, both of which continue to serve the Maldivian people.
President Dr Muizzu also paid tribute to Sheikh Hamad's leadership, describing him as a statesman whose vision helped shape Qatar's modern development while contributing to the progress of the wider Arab and Islamic world. He said the former Amir's legacy would continue to be remembered both within Qatar and internationally.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, the President extended sympathies to Sheikh Tamim, the Qatari Royal Family and the people of Qatar, and prayed for the former Amir to be granted eternal peace and the highest ranks of Jannah.
