Registration has opened for the Independence Day Minivan Run, one of the key events organised as part of this year's Independence Day celebrations.
The Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage officially launched the event during a ceremony held at the ministry on Tuesday evening. The ceremony was officiated by Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Heena Waleed.
During the event, the ministry signed a three-year partnership agreement with WeRun Maldives, which will organise the Minivan Run scheduled to take place in Hulhumalé on 27 July. The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by State Minister Ahmed Munaz, while WeRun Maldives was represented by its Manager, Hawwa Neela.
The Minivan Run is open to Government institutions, clubs, associations, community organisations and members of the public. The initiative aims to celebrate the spirit of Independence Day by strengthening national unity and encouraging healthier, more active lifestyles through community participation.
The ceremony also marked the launch of the WeRun App, through which participants can now register for the Minivan Run.
WeRun Maldives is a community organisation that promotes healthy living through social activities, competitive races and corporate running programmes. It has organised numerous running events across the Maldives and continues to encourage active lifestyles nationwide.
