The first term of the 2026 academic year has concluded, with students across the Maldives beginning a 16-day mid-year break after receiving their end-of-term report books.

The second term is scheduled to begin on 2 August, while the academic year will conclude on 17 December. Students will then begin their year-end holiday from 18 December to 12 January, giving them a 25-day break before the start of the new school year.

More than 77,000 students are enrolled in 218 Government schools this academic year, including 4,790 who entered Grade One. Of these, 1,748 are enrolled in schools across the Greater Malé Region, while 3,042 are attending schools in the atolls.

The current academic year also marked the opening of a new school in Hulhumalé Phase II, accommodating more than 1,900 students from Grades One to Ten.
