The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare has launched the ITHAA Portal, a new digital information management system designed to improve the handling of social service cases and protect sensitive information.

The portal was officially launched by Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Geela Ali at a ceremony held at the ministry, with support from UNICEF Maldives.

According to the ministry, the ITHAA Portal will digitalise the management of social assistance applications and case files, covering every stage from the receipt of an application to the completion of a case.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Geela described the ITHAA Portal as the first system of its kind in the Maldives, adding that it supports the Government’s Maldives 2.0 initiative to digitise public services and improve access for citizens.

She said the new system is expected to speed up case processing, improve the accuracy of information, and strengthen coordination between Government institutions. It will also allow authorised officers to access case histories more efficiently while improving referrals between agencies.

The minister added that replacing paper-based files with a digital system will enhance the confidentiality of citizens' personal information while improving the quality and efficiency of services provided by the ministry. She said the portal will also enable the ministry's call centre to provide faster and more accurate information to the public.

The ITHAA Portal will further support programmes such as Haalu Kihineh and IBAMA, helping Government agencies coordinate social service delivery, reduce repeated household visits by different teams and improve the overall efficiency of the country's social protection system.
