Laos' Non-Resident Ambassador to the Maldives, Vithaya Xayavong, presented her Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today. President Dr Muizzu and Ambassador Xayavong reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and discussed exploring new avenues of cooperation in areas of mutual interest. 

A traditional Haiykolhu procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band, escorted the ambassador to the President's Office. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Laos were established on 10 February 2012.
