The Maldives is a rapidly growing destination with expanding investment opportunities across multiple sectors, Maldives' Ambassador to Japan Ahmed Mahloof said while highlighting the country's investment potential to Japanese businesses.

Speaking at a business webinar organised by the Embassy in Japan, Ambassador Mahloof thanked the Japanese business community for its continued interest in the Maldives and reaffirmed the Government's commitment to creating a transparent and investor-friendly business environment.

He said ongoing legislative and administrative reforms are aimed at facilitating sustainable long-term investment, strengthening the country's investment framework and increasing the confidence of foreign investors. Ambassador Mahloof also assured prospective investors that the embassy stands ready to serve as their first point of contact with relevant Government agencies and stakeholders, providing the necessary support throughout the investment process.

The ambassador encouraged Japanese businesses to explore the opportunities available in the Maldives, expressing hope that the webinar had provided valuable insight into the country's investment landscape.

He also noted that next year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Japan, expressing confidence that the longstanding friendship between the two countries would further strengthen economic cooperation in the years ahead.
