His Royal Highness Prince Dr Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud arrived in the Maldives on Friday to attend the country's 61st Independence Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour.

Prince Dr Mansour, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Cabinet Member of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is attending the official Independence Day celebrations on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The Saudi royal was received at Velana International Airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam and Principal Secretary to the President on Foreign Relations Mohamed Naseer.

Upon his arrival, Prince Dr Mansour was accorded a Guard of Honour by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

His visit comes as the Maldives commemorates the 61st anniversary of its independence, with a number of official events taking place to mark the occasion.
