A military display and ceremonial procession were held at Republic Square as part of the official celebrations marking the Maldives' 61st Independence Day. The military display was performed by graduates of the first batch of the Maldives National Service programme. A 21-gun salute by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) also formed part of the official proceedings.

The ceremony was attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, alongside the Guest of Honour, Prince Dr Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Government's Special Guest, His Excellency Dr Khalilur Rahman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. The Speaker of Parliament, the Chief Justice, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior Government officials and other foreign dignitaries were also in attendance.
