The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert, warning of a forecast swell surge expected to affect islands from Kaafu Atoll to Addu Atoll tonight.

MET Office said the alert is in effect from 10:00 p.m. tonight until 2:00 a.m. tomorrow. The swell surge is expected to affect coastal areas across the alert zone, and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions.

The warning follows a swell surge that affected several parts of Malé City earlier today, causing damage in coastal areas.

At the Rasfannu beachfront, tidal waves swept rocks and sand ashore. The swell surge also damaged several vehicles parked in the area.

The Industrial Village area was also impacted, with several vehicles sustaining damage after tidal waves inundated the coastline.
