ID card and passport services inauguration ceremony
Printing and issuance of National Identity Cards and Passport services have officially commenced in Raa Atoll.
The launch ceremony was held in Ungoofaaru on Tuesday as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Raa Atoll. The services were officially inaugurated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, and the President of the Raa Atoll Council, Hussain Nasif.
The services will now enable residents to access ID cards and passport services locally, with passports applied through the Imuga portal available for collection in Ungoofaaru.
This initiative, first inaugurated by President Dr Muizzu on November 16 last year, is part of a broader project to expand the printing and issuance of these services across the Maldives.
The project is anticipated to be fully implemented by the end of this year. According to the Government’s roadmap, the next phase will see ID card printing services introduced in HDh. Makunudhoo and passport issuance services launched in Th. Veymandoo, with both services scheduled to commence in February 2025.
