The Maldives Police Service has arrested a 62-year-old man from Raa Inguraidhoo in connection with a drug-related case.

Police confirmed that Ali Shareef, a 62-year-old from Kaafu Malé, was apprehended in Inguraidhoo in possession of four cellophane bags containing suspected narcotics.

According to police, the arrest was made on June 14 following a tip-off alleging that Ali Shareef had been using and dealing drugs on the island. A subsequent search led to the seizure of the four bags.

He was later presented before the court and remanded in custody for 10 days.

The case remains under investigation by the Inguraidhoo Police Station.
