Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced that a team of young imams will lead the Taraweeh prayers throughout Ramadan this year.

According to the Minister, the Taraweeh prayers at the Islamic Centre will be led by a group of distinguished young scholars: the centre's Imam Hafiz Salman Mohamed Latheef, Hafiz Sultan Mohamed Latheef, Hafiz Uwais bin Inaz, and Khizr bin Imad.

Sultan Mohamed Latheef will join specifically to lead the Taraweeh prayers during the last ten days of Ramadan.

The Minister further stated that the Tahajjud (late night) prayers during the last ten days will be led by Salman Mohamed Latheef and Sultan Mohamed Latheef, both sons of the Islamic Centre's Head Imam, Sheikh Mohamed Latheef.

Minister Dr Shaheem emphasised that the aim is to nurture young Islamic personalities who the nation can be proud of in years to come. Sultan is currently pursuing his studies in Medina. Both Sultan and Salman successfully led the Taraweeh prayers at the centre last year as well.
