The Maldives has called for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks on healthcare facilities and workers in Gaza, denouncing the actions as inhuman and a violation of international law.
Speaking at the 78th World Health Assembly, Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health situation in Gaza, which he said has displaced thousands and severely restricted access to humanitarian aid, including food, fuel, and medical supplies.
The Minister condemned the attacks as part of “ethnic cleansing” and underscored the urgent need for access to critical support, including mental health care, vaccination efforts, and child health services. He stressed that the people of Gaza have been deprived of their fundamental right to life.
Calling on international organisations and UN member states to take immediate action, Minister Nazim urged the global community to uphold human rights for all, regardless of nationality or background. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and its commitment to supporting efforts to end the crisis.
Maldives has always been at the forefront of the Palestinian cause, with the Government and the people continually advocating for a free Palestine.
