A newly expanded emergency room equipped with modern medical technology has opened at Hulhumalé Hospital on May 27, 2025.

The facility was officially inaugurated President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, as part of his Administration’s ‘New Policy Initiative.’ During the ceremony, the President toured the emergency room, met with patients, and spoke with hospital staff.

The upgraded unit features a dedicated resuscitation room designed to deliver specialised care for critical cases. With the expansion, the number of beds in the emergency room has doubled, allowing for the simultaneous treatment of up to 14 patients.

The project represents a key step in enhancing emergency healthcare infrastructure, aligning with the Government’s broader policy to strengthen medical services across the country.
