The second meeting of the High-Level Core Group (HLCG) between the Maldives and India was held in New Delhi, with a focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The delegation from the Maldives was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel.
This meeting follows the inaugural HLCG session held in Malé on January 29, 2025, which laid the groundwork for structured bilateral cooperation under the framework of the vision document, "India and Maldives: A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership," established by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting in October last year.
The two delegations held productive talks spanning a wide range of bilateral cooperation areas, including transport and connectivity, agriculture, fisheries, trade, economic development, health, people-to-people exchanges, capacity building and training, alongside defence and security partnerships.
The Maldivian delegation included senior officials from the President's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Finance and Planning, and the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.
