Shaheer named HDC Chair, Nurain appointed at MACL

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has announced new leadership appointments for two key State-owned enterprises (SOEs).

Ahmed Shaheer has been appointed Chairman of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), while Ayesha Nurain Jahah has been named Chairperson of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

Shaheer previously served as Chairman of Fenaka Corporation, a role he assumed on February 11, 2024. He has an extensive background in public enterprise management, including a long tenure at State Trading Organization (STO). Shaheer worked at STO for 29 years, serving as Managing Director from 2014 to 2018. Before that, he held key roles in procurement and other administrative functions within the organisation.

Meanwhile, Nurain is a Chartered Accountant and a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA NZ). She has held several senior roles in the accounting sector in New Zealand, including as a Manager at Ernst & Young, one of the world’s leading professional services firms. She previously served as Chairperson of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
