Immigration detains 25 undocumented foreign nationals

The Maldives Immigration has detained 25 undocumented foreign nationals in a nationwide operation aimed at curbing illegal immigration.
In a post on X, Maldives Immigration stated that two locations were searched on May 29 as part of the operation, during which documents of 102 foreign nationals were inspected.
Maldives Immigration arrested a total of 25 undocumented foreign nationals during the operation, of which seven were from a residence in Henveiru and 18 from a house in Haveeree Goalhi, Maafannu.
Three foreigners were also arrested during a raid in Hulhumale on the night of May 28. The operation targeted a building housing foreign nationals.
Authorities have ramped up enforcement efforts with frequent and unannounced nationwide raids. In addition to making arrests, immigration violators are being deported as part of the crackdown.
