A major power outage caused by a technical issue in the Greater Malé Region recently led to a temporary interruption in the electricity supply at both Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Dharumavantha Hospital.

The disruption was promptly addressed through the immediate activation of backup power systems.

Emergency generators were deployed without delay to restore electricity to all essential areas, with particular priority given to departments delivering critical medical services. As a result, patient care and other vital hospital functions continued without significant interruption.

Additionally, Hulhumalé Hospital has also transitioned to backup power to ensure the continued provision of essential services.
