The Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has confirmed that power has been fully restored at Velana International Airport as of 2:05 PM today.

The airport experienced temporary power disruptions due to a wider outage in the Greater Malé area, where the main power grid also functions as a backup for the airport’s own generation system.

Despite the outage, MACL assured the public that all critical airport operations remained fully functional, supported by the airport’s backup power supply. Essential services, including passenger handling, air traffic management, and safety systems, were unaffected throughout the disruption.

MACL has also emphasised its commitment to further strengthening its systems to ensure that any future power disruptions will not impact airport services. The company is actively working on enhancements to its infrastructure to improve resilience and minimise the risk of service interruptions.
