The weather forecast for today remains unfavourable, with a white alert currently in effect for several areas across the country.

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met) has predicted heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of up to 45 mph between 09:15 and 15:00 today.

A white alert was issued yesterday from Noonu Atoll to Laamu Atoll, effective from 16:30 to 22:30. Additionally, another white alert is active from Alif Dhaalu Atoll to Addu City, covering the period from 04:30 to 21:30. The western monsoon is presently prevailing, resulting in rough sea conditions expected to continue in the coming days.

Today marks the final day of the Hulhangu Roanu Nakaiy, which has lasted from May 20 to June 2. During this period, heavy rain and strong winds have were anticipated. From tomorrow, the Miyahelia Nakaiy will begin and continue until June 16, with forecasts indicating continued heavy rain and strong westerly winds throughout this time.
