Since assuming full responsibility for Maldivian pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia last year, the Hajj Corporation has intensified its efforts to improve the quality and safety of services offered throughout the pilgrimage.

In a recent update, Managing Director of the Hajj Corporation, Mohamed Shakeel, highlighted one of the safety measures currently in operation. In a post shared on X, Shakeel stated that staff at the Corporation’s head office in Malé are working in 24-hour shifts as pilgrims commence their journey from Mecca to Mina.

According to Shakeel, the continuous monitoring allows the Corporation to immediately respond should a pilgrim stray outside the designated areas. In such cases, the head office in Malé contacts the individual directly to confirm their safety and offer any required support. Should on-site intervention be needed, the support teams stationed in Saudi Arabia are mobilised to assist.

This robust safety protocol reflects the Corporation’s commitment to ensuring a secure and well-managed pilgrimage experience for all participants.

In addition to enhanced safety measures, several concessions have been introduced this year to ease the pilgrimage experience. These include improved facilities and arrangements in Mina and Arafah, as well as streamlined travel between Makkah and Medina.
