A dedicated area has been designated for the parking of electric vehicles (EV taxis) that will be operated under the Government's new taxi line service.

The allocated space is located in the third phase of Hulhumalé. Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, visited the site to inspect the designated area. He was accompanied by the Managing Director of the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and senior officials from the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The Government plans to introduce 100 taxis under the new taxi line initiative, with MTCC serving as the service provider. This move is part of a broader strategy to improve the quality and accessibility of public transport services across the Maldives.

According to the Government, the taxi line will be designed to meet the expectations and needs of the public, providing a reliable and consistent service. It has also been clarified that the new initiative will not interfere with existing taxi services currently operated by private individuals.
