President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has paid tribute to the late Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed Ahmed, describing his contributions to religious guidance as “endless” and his character as noble and inspiring.

In a post on his official X account following the scholar’s passing, the President said he received the news with deep sorrow and emphasised Sheikh Fareed’s lifelong dedication to Islamic education and community service.

He noted that Sheikh Fareed was widely respected as a man of integrity and noble conduct, who devoted his life to teaching Islamic principles and encouraging others towards righteousness.

The President added that Sheikh Fareed’s efforts in guiding the nation on religious matters had left a profound impact, and that the positive influence of his work would continue to resonate for generations to come.

He offered prayers for Sheikh Fareed, asking Allah to reward him for his service to Islam, grant him eternal blessings in Paradise, and provide strength and patience to his family during this time of grief.

Sheikh Fareed passed away in Malaysia earlier on Monday. He had travelled there for a meeting but died shortly after arriving at the airport while receiving medical treatment.
