Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim met with the United Kingdom’s Special Representative, Ruth Davis, on the sidelines of the United Nations Ocean Conference 3 (UNOC3) in France.

During the meeting, Minister Thoriq expressed appreciation for the UK Government’s continued support to the Maldives, particularly in protected area management and capacity-building initiatives. He acknowledged the UK's ongoing contributions to environmental protection and climate resilience in the Maldives.

The meeting is regarded as a step towards deepening cooperation between the two countries on climate and ocean-related issues. Officials anticipate that such engagements will pave the way for future collaborative initiatives benefiting the Maldives’ marine and environmental sectors.

UNOC3 convenes global leaders, experts, and stakeholders to advance the sustainable use of oceans and marine resources. The conference serves as a platform for international dialogue on ocean governance, climate action, and marine conservation.
