Ahmed Rasheed, former member of parliament for the Gadhdhoo constituency, passed away on Tuesday after a long illness.

Rasheed served in the 18th Parliament as a candidate for the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). During his tenure, he was an active member of five parliamentary committees, including the Public Accounts Committee and the Independent Institutions Committee.

His funeral is scheduled to take place after Maghrib prayers on Tuesday.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu offered condolences to Rasheed’s family in a message posted on his official X account, expressing sympathy and prayers for the late parliamentarian’s loved ones.
