The Government is preparing to commence construction of a hospital in Thulusdhoo, Kaafu Atoll.
The contract for the project was awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) in March this year.
The planned facility will be a 30-bed hospital, specifically designed to enhance healthcare services on the island. The development will include a health centre block spanning 1,729.10 square metres, a service block of 238.11 square metres, and an accommodation block covering 167.63 square metres. Within the health centre block, various essential medical facilities will be established, including doctors’ rooms, medical wards, and private patient rooms.
Furthermore, specialised units such as a laboratory, operating theatre, maternity room, X-ray room, ultrasound room, emergency services unit, and a public health unit will also be incorporated.
With an estimated cost of MVR 101.7 million, the hospital project aims to expand and improve existing healthcare services on Thulusdhoo. The island, which has a population of over 1,600 residents, currently operates a 24-hour health service centre.
