The Maldives Hajj Corporation has issued a warning to the public regarding fraudulent messages being circulated in its name, urging individuals to exercise caution and report suspicious activity.
According to the Corporation, it has received reports of scam messages sent to the phones of members of the public, falsely claiming to be from the Hajj Corporation.
The Corporation clarified that it does not send payment links via text or call individuals requesting funds to be deposited into private accounts. All official payments, it stated, are made through the Corporation’s authorised channels and deposited into official bank accounts.
Members of the public have been advised not to click on any suspicious links and to immediately report such messages or phone calls to the relevant authorities.
Incidents of scams have been rising in the Maldives in recent years. In May 2025 alone, 44 fraud cases were reported between May 18 and May 30, resulting in financial losses amounting to over MVR 800,000.
